چکیده

The application of the subhalide reaction to Al refining has recently been a subject of increasing concern as a process to obtain pure Al from crude Al alloys. In this process, the ternary Al-Si-Fe alloy containing various amounts of Si and Fe which is produced(1)-(3) by the direct reduction of bauxite or alumina-bearing ores is used as the raw material. Therefore, on obtaining pure Al from Al-Si-Fe ternary alloys by the subhalide process, it is very important to know the thermodynamic properties of ternary Al-Si-Fe alloys. On the subhalide reaction, the reactivity between AlCl3 and Al in the alloys depends strongly on the activity of Al, so that it is indispensable to know the activities in the ternary Al-Si-Fe system. However, very little work has been reported about this system. In this report, the activities of Al in the ternary liquid Al-Si-Fe system were determined by the emf method

Mean Activity Coefficients Measurements and Thermodynamic Modeling of the Ternary Mixed Electrolyte KCl + Lactose + Water System at T = 298.15 K

In this work, the mean activity coefficients of KCl in the KCl+lactose +water system were determined using the potentiometric method. The electromotive force measurements were carried out on the galvanic cell without liquid junction of the type: Ag|AgCl|KCl (m), lactose (wt.%), H2O (1−wt.) %|K-ISE, in various mixed solvent systems containing 0, 5,7.5, 10 and 12.5 % mass fractions of lactose. Th...

Thermodynamic analysis of nanocrystalline solid solution formation in the W-Co-Si ternary system by mechanical alloying

Co3W2Si intermetallic compound was synthesized by mechanical alloying (MA) of W, Co and Si elemental powder mixtures. The phase composition of the milled products was evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Morphological evolutions were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that high energy ball milling performed in the present work led to the format...

ساختار و خواص مغناطیسی آلیاژهای ‍‍CoFeSiB انجماد سریع یافته

The effects of metalloids Si(4-27 at%) and B(5-22 at%) on the structure and magnetic properties of melt spun cobalt based alloys containing 5at% Fe have been studied. XRD results revealed that in non-eutectic ternary CoFeSi and CoFeB alloys, the additions of Si or B, alone can not lead to full amorphization of melt spun ribbons. In quaternary CoFeSiB alloys, the total amounts of Si and B additi...
